You have a degree, but you have yet to be offered an interview

Your parents were proud of you, while your housemates thought you were a legend. You graduated with a first, and you felt good about it. It made you motivated to send your resume right away, but you became discouraged after a while. You wondered why no one called you for an interview. Did you forget to include a vital information?

Before you lose hope, assess your chances. You're not the only applicant, which means your resume must be noticed at first glance. Here are a few things to consider:

Are you the right person for the job? A degree is an achievement, without a doubt. But you might come across as an intense individual, which will prompt some employers to have second thoughts about you. You might not fit in, and this won't be good to you (and the company) in the long run. Furthermore, your qualifications may not be enough. What can you contribute to a team environment? You come across as polite and disarming, which will help you make new friends in the workplace. But you must have more. This will lead you to the next factor.

If you hold an arts degree, then make the most of your free time. You heard tales of those who worked in the entertainment industry. They hang out in the studio, with a keen eye on the happenings. They even acted as an assistant to someone. Doing it for a few years would be valuable for three reasons. First, they learned the trade. Second, they would meet the right people. Third, the experience could be more important than a degree. You shouldn't be disheartened. This would be your chance to indulge in your favorite hobby, as it will make your resume more interesting. Participate in events where it can teach you a transferable skill or two. This will give you the edge in other professions. Before you object, read the next one.

It's about flexibility. The line of work that you desired the most might not turned out to be the one for you. And you must not discount financial security. It's important to keep a balance perspective at a young age. This is not about being stubborn and persistent. (Whatever you want, it will happen.) But there are many ways to get there. If you're an artist, then look at creativity in a thoughtful way. Loafing and indulging in creative pursuits will help you, but you have daily expenses to consider. It's a different story if you live with your parents.
