How to avoid failure (and love your job)

Let's get past the introduction, as you might encounter this topic before. You're not a failure if you have friends, but there are other things to consider. Take note of the following:

Avoid lofty goals. Nothing wrong about being ambitious at a young age. In fact, this will help you go farther than you imagine. But try to look ahead. You might forget to take a rest when you need it. You won't keep in touch with your friends. And your family will try to understand your frequent change of moods. Set small goals, which you can achieve it right away. If you want to challenge yourself, then try to step up. Running is a great idea, for instance. You can participate in a marathon. (Don't think of first place at this point.) This will put you in a good mood, which you'll need in the workplace.

It's better to have cash all the time. Youth is not an excuse for not thinking of the immediate future. If you're not mindful of your expenses, then you'll incur debt. This is the worst scenario, an uncomfortable experience as well. Plan ahead. Save a fraction of your salary. Practice delay gratification, as you'll appreciate something if it takes you time to get it. A backpacking adventure will be another thing, though.

Know your market. It's not the place where you buy your food, but rather your field of profession. Try to be the best you can be. There are days when you're about to give up, but motivate yourself. Take a break if you're dead tired. You can reward yourself for a job well done. These will make you a better professional. It will turn you into a better person as well.

Deal with your people carefully. You don't look for friends in the workplace, but you see your colleagues most of the time. It helps to be polite. Don't turn down an invitation to go out with them unless you have an important matter to attend. Keep in mind that your professional network can help you at some point. It can be a future project (and there'll be a collaboration). You'll change jobs, and they might have opportunities.

Don't be afraid to seek help. You don't know all the answers. And don't deny it.
