What are your thoughts for the summer?

If you didn't come here for the holidays, then pat yourself on the back. You can be one of those few people who have a vision. It may be the road less traveled, depending on your clothes. It's about jobs.

Let's cut to the chase. Here are five things that have been distracting you since Groundhog Day:

I don't want to burst into tears and run away from my job. You might be referring to a summer job, which can't be more serious than thinking of what to do during weekends. It can turn into an amusing conversation, though. Think about a marketing team, who is determined to come out with a one-of-a-kind perfume. But one must take part in a quality analysis. Smelling armpits. It's a matter of perspective, where this experience can be a premise for a coming-of-age story. You might be dramatic about it (after reading a Young-adult book). It can't be worse than someone boasting about the work ethics that he learned from his parents. And he's been dealing with dead animals for years. If you're really serious about looking for a job, then you must compose a CV. This will lead to the next item.

It's my first time to compose a CV. There's a first time for everything, but this one deserves careful planning and input from other people. Keep in mind that you can't put anything into this piece of paper. It must be something. And you have to be particular with details. There are three things to consider. First, think about the company you like to work for. Pay attention to the skills they are looking for. Make sure that your abilities (or talents) will suit the qualifications. Second, keep it short and simple. If you have written too many (college) essays, then you should know that everyone doesn't have the patience for a long CV. Last but not the least, ask questions from the people who have been there. Experience is the best teacher.

What if the workplace is far from the one I have in mind? No one is forcing you. On the other hand, you might be reading an article about some British offices being considered the worst in the world. There could be some truth behind it (if you notice the grumpy faces of the employees). But seriously. Is it really bothering you? You'll have time for it. It's not about a dystopian book.

How can I find a work-life balance? This will be your first job, so don't think about it. You're not getting ahead, but you don't know where will you make a living. Make sure your CV stands out. Choose your (professional) attire for the interview. And the world won't stop if you don't get a call (after the interview). Try (until you're hired).

I want an emphatic manager. This is another thing that is beyond your control. Moreover, you're too early to think such things. Look at the ads. Find your prospective employers. Send your CV. Repeat if you didn't get a call (for an interview). If you didn't make a good impression (during the interview), then follow the steps once more.
