There's no such thing as boredom in the workplace

Familiarity does breed contempt, but you wonder if such a thing applies to the workplace. You were a film enthusiast, so Phil Connors came to mind right away. He was a misanthrope, who was cursed to live the same routine over and over again. You didn't show the same tendency to your colleagues (unless someone would talk about "Big Brother".) And then you realized something. You could be having your own version of "Groundhog Day". Perhaps boredom happens to everyone until they figure out that familiarity breeds content.

You thought about your case for a week. And you came up with possible solutions (or so you thought). Here they are:

Reward yourself. After-work beer would be the best option. You can do it in an instant if you're rather impatient. You might not have kept a consistent schedule during your university days. (You mastered the art of procrastination.) You're not an old dog to learn a new trick. In this case, it will be self-discipline. If you believe that you deserve more rewards, then treat yourself during the weekend. (While you're in the subject, why not invite your colleagues. It will be better to know each other, and this can be a good opportunity to do it.) A holiday can be a long-term plan after a year or two.

You have a life, a social life. If you're the kind of person who likes to interact with other people, then you might consider your colleagues. Don't think that you're too different from them, even too good for them. (It could be counterproductive.) And it will be best for everyone not to talk about work now and then. This will motivate you, which will help you perform better in the workplace in turn.

A flexible schedule can be tempting, but think long and hard about it. Not that it can't be good for everyone, but observe yourself. Are you the type of person who pay attention to details? If you are you might prefer to stick to a schedule. And flexible working hours might not be for you. If you want to give it a try, then look ahead. You may not have time for social life, even end up complaining about trivial matters. It wouldn't be worth it. Think about it in the long run.

If there are too many things to do, don't complain about it. If your department is understaffed, then expect hectic days. And you would wish for a bed sooner than your think. Otherwise, there would be days when you yearn for a sun-kissed moment. Don't complain about it. Moreover, it won't be wise to wish you were occupied. It could happen sooner than you hoped for. And you would complain one more.

Try to learn to like what you do. It doesn't mean you must strive to be a workaholic. If you love what you're doing, then you won't dread Mondays.
