The cure to Sun Irritability Disorder (SID)

You experienced your first symptom of Sun Irritability Disorder (SID) a few summers ago. You got your (undergraduate) degree, and you chose to be a couch potato. It wasn't bad at all, as you needed rest. You thought there was nothing better than watching football on the telly for hours until you saw your sister's latest photos on Facebook. She decided to embark on a backpacking trip halfway around the world, which didn't sit well with your parents. She assured you that she have enough funds, even planning to look for a bartender job in case she would run out of money.

She seemed to have a blast, while she had a glimpse of the Vietnamese countryside from her motorcycle. She found new mates in Vang Vieng, and all of them seemed drunk. (There were empty bottles of beer.) And you were green with envy after you saw her sun-kissed skin in Sihanoukville. You didn't fancy going places, as you figured out that checking out the tourist destination through Google would be enough. But you wondered if your sister did the right thing. On the other hand, you might be suffering from SID.

You were certain of SID after you landed your first job. You were over the moon last Christmas, which marked your first month in the office. The weather would influence your mood, though. For instance, you looked forward to spring. It was rainfall during the first week of April. And it was still cold. The sudden change made you cantankerous, which you tried not to show to your colleagues. Perhaps, it was a blessing in disguise that you experienced these symptoms. (It's the beginning of summer.) You were in a generous mood, so you wanted to tell your story. This was how you did it:

Your boss called to check you. He wanted to spend his holiday in Australia, and you feigned your excitement. (Sydney is in your bucket list.) You got a call a week after his departure. Everything was fine, you told him. He had no idea of how jealous you were. After all, you tried too hard to save for your first vacation. (You were overspending, and you won't admit it.) And then you noticed your colleagues. They seemed to be in a good mood. You wondered if this was a case of the cat being away.

You wanted to keep the air conditioning. The cold air made you efficient, such that you don't want to get out of the office. You shuddered when you felt the humidity, which changed your mood instantly. It was a good thing that you were going home. You decided to go to the office at an earlier time.

You were irritated at your colleagues. The receptionist had a ghastly voice, not to mention her horn-rimmed glasses. (She might be a villainess in disguise.) You would prefer silence, which helped you focus on the tasks. This would be the reason behind your disgust whenever someone made unnecessary noise. You didn't forget a colleague who went on a holiday. (You seemed shocked at his Facebook photos, where he was in his birthday suit. It was a panorama of the mountain range, and it was a long-distance shot. You didn't dare ask him.) You reminded yourself that you spent more time with these people. Be nice to them.

Your colleagues talked about the Star Wars film series. You told them that you weren't interested at all. If they could come to your room and see the stormtroopers in Lego. You decided to think of a place to hide them, as you wanted to avoid embarrassment.

You were upset when you heard the sound of laughter. It turned out that you were bitter. It would be nice if you joined your colleagues, and you didn't mind the jokes on you. If you could be friendly to them.

Those days seemed like ages ago, and you would mark your second year in the workplace. You learned from the experience, as you were aware of SID. But have you became older and wiser?
